MATCH REPORT: Rosslyn Park vs Plymouth Albion

Rosslyn Park 17 – 61 Plymouth Albion

05/09/26

Rosslyn Park fell to a strong Plymouth Albion side at The Rock, with the visitors securing a 61-17 victory. Iwan Jenkins kicked eight of nine conversions.

Plymouth started strongly, with penalties putting pressure on Park before Harry Wilkinson scored his first try, converted by Jenkins after five minutes.

More penalties put Albion on the five-metre line, where Wilkinson emerged from the bottom of the maul to claim his second try.

Park found some footing and, after interplay by the backs, Charlie Coe was put in at the corner to score, although Freddie Vaughan was unable to convert.

Albion dominated again however, with Ben Mao piling over from close range.

Two minutes later, a high shot from Ali Wade led to a red card for the prop, before Archie Hill dived over from close range following the penalty.

Albion winger Noah Fenton then rounded off an opening first half with a clever interception, running 50 metres to score. Jenkins added the extras to make it 35-5 at the break.

The visitors started the second half as they had the first, with a penalty putting them near the Park line before Wilkinson claimed his third try. Park’s problems worsened when Mao stole the ball from a Park player in the 22 and ran over to score his second.

Park looked as if they may be in when Charlie Coe made a run from his own half, only to be stopped short and have the ball illegally stolen by Archie Hill, who saw yellow.

Plymouth found the whitewash again through Sam Daly, before Park responded with Archie Hosking crashing over following a neat lineout move. Luc Smith converted.

Plymouth weren’t finished, with Oscar Stewart beating defenders from close range to score, before Jenkins converted again.

Park had the final say, showing fight to see out the 80 minutes. Multiple offsides saw Stewart receive a yellow on 75 minutes before Freddie Vaughan found a gap to make it 17-61.

Speaking after the game, Jenkins said: “It was a great start to the season, Rosslyn Park are a great National 1 team and we just put 60 points on them”

“The first half was a very good performance for us, we took away their scrum and put our game on, they then showed if we switch off they can damage us”

“For the first hit out I thought that’s right up there”
