MATCH REPORT: Rosslyn Park v Sedgley Park

Rosslyn Park 68 – 19 Sedgley Park Tigers
18/10/25

Rosslyn Park go to the top of the National 1 table after running in 10 tries against Sedgley Park Tigers in a dominant display at The Rock. Hat-tricks from Luke Mehson and Charlie Walker helped the West London side race to a 68–19 win over the Tigers, on an afternoon that saw captain Arthur Ellis earn his 150th cap for the club.

Things started quickly for the hosts. A knock-on from the kick-off and a neat scrum move saw Luke Mehson claim his first of the afternoon. Steff James converted—and wouldn’t miss another until the final minute.

The Tigers attempted to apply pressure in response, but a loose ball was scooped up by Park inside the 22 and worked wide to Mehson, who went over again. Things got better for the West London outfit when they found themselves in the opposition 22 once more, playing through phases before a beautiful flat ball from James sent Freddie Vaughan in to extend the lead.

At the 30-minute mark, Park’s other wing joined the party Ewan Fenley sniping from the base in midfield before offloading superbly to Charlie Walker, who scored under the posts. The visitors eventually capitalised on some pressure in Park’s 22, cutting the deficit to 21 when hooker Ben Gregory powered over from a maul.

The second half told a similar story. Sedgley tried to apply early pressure, but Park won a penalty on their own line and cleared. Minutes later, Steff James played a beautiful ball off a lineout to send Walker through for his second of the afternoon.

Moments later, Park launched some attacking phases off the kick-off before Ed Volley sliced through a gap to claim his first try. Minutes later, a trademark run from Mehson saw him offload to Arthur Ellis and then Walker, who completed his hat-trick.

Sedgley did bounce back after a couple of penalties in Park’s 22 they mauled over again, this time Billy Addy claiming the five points.

At the 64th minute, Ellis’ afternoon came to an end, and he was treated to a standing ovation as he left the field. Moments later, Park had the crowd cheering again: a move off the lineout just inside Sedgley’s half saw Mehson slide through a gap to complete his hat-trick.

In a similar position with 10 minutes to go, Ed Volley claimed his second this time a move off a scrum saw him burst through a gap.

Sedgley managed one final score, sustaining pressure in Park’s 22 and using the maul to their advantage once again, with Gregory peeling off and powering over.

But it was Park who finished with a flourish—Walker hit another gap after some slick phase play before feeding Jake Cleet, who dived over to cement an absolutely dominant win at The Rock.
