Rosslyn Park 53–17 Leeds Tykes
08/11/25
A well-drilled Rosslyn Park side powered past Leeds Tykes to claim yet another win in National League One. A Charlie Piper hat-trick cemented Park’s home record and helped maintain their first-place position in the league. Although Leeds managed to find their feet in the second half, it was too little, too late for the side from up north.
Things started quickly for the hosts, as a powerful maul early on saw Charlie Piper claim his first of the afternoon. Park then built phases in midfield before Conrad Cade powered over from close range to notch his first. Luc Smith added the extras on his long-awaited return to match action.
Tykes responded immediately through Tom Davis, who mauled over after they mounted pressure through penalties in the Park half. Seremaia Bai Turagabeci added the extras. But Rosslyn Park then shifted into gear.
Park’s maul came into play again as Piper claimed his second of the afternoon, before a Turagabeci penalty brought the visitors within seven.
However, straight from the resulting kick-off, some slick backhands found Benji Marfo, who scored his first of the afternoon. Minutes later, the maul did its job again as Piper completed his hat-trick.
A fantastic run from Ed Volley, followed by some interchange with Marfo, led to a neat kick which Murray Redpath pounced on for the score. Marfo then grabbed his second of the afternoon minutes later, powering through a gap and stepping the last defender before dotting down.
Freddie Vaughan joined the party 57 minutes in, intercepting on halfway and executing a beautiful one-two with Bill Johnston before finishing it off. Johnston added the extras to claim his first points of the afternoon. Vaughan then finished things off for the hosts minutes later, powering over from close range off a lineout move.
Leeds did eventually salvage something from the second half, with Louis Guthrie bundling over from a metre out. But it proved too little, too late for the away side. Park remain top of National League One after a clinical and powerful display at The Rock.
