MATCH REPORT: Rosslyn Park v Birmingham Moseley

ROSSLYN PARK 47 – 24 BIRMINGHAM MOSELEY
20/09/25

Rosslyn Park continued their strong start to the National 1 season with a thrilling 47–24 victory over Birmingham Moseley, thanks in large part to a dazzling hat-trick from winger Luke Mehson.
On a cloudy afternoon at The Rock, the match remained tightly contested until the final ten minutes. With Park leading by just two points at the 70-minute mark, Mehson’s electric pace and clinical finishing turned the tide, scoring twice late on to seal a dominant win.

The first half was cagey, with both sides probing for openings. A yellow card for Moseley at the 15-minute mark gave Park the edge, and Charlie Walker capitalised with a superb chip-and-chase try, converted by Ed Morgan. Moseley responded quickly, taking advantage of a 50:22 and a swift lineout to level the score.
Park struck again before the break, as Mehson gathered a loose ball and executed a brilliant solo chip-and-chase to score his first of the afternoon, showcasing the flair that’s becoming his trademark.

Moseley came out strong in the second half, narrowing the gap to four points with a penalty. But Park answered with a powerful maul from a lineout on the visitors’ five-metre line, with replacement Charlie Piper emerging to score. Moseley hit back immediately, driving over from the restart to keep the pressure on.
Park’s midfield then took control, stringing together phases before Ed Morgan broke through to score and convert his own try. Yet Moseley refused to back down, crashing over from a maul after a penalty to bring the score to 26–24 with ten minutes remaining.

That’s when Park shifted gears. Morgan delivered a pinpoint grubber for Mehson to score his second, and minutes later, the winger completed his hat-trick with another stunning chip-and-chase. Replacement Ali Wade added the final touch, pouncing on a loose ball to score and round off a commanding 23-point win.
