a look ahead to SATURDAY’s game
TAUNTON VS ROSSLYN PARK, Saturday 1ST APRIL, KO 3PM
The 1st XV are headed West this weekend as they are set to take on Taunton Titans.
This weekend’s opposition currently sit 12th in the league having won just 7 matches this year. However, they do come into this weekend’s clash on a run of form, having picked up 4 wins from their last 7. Within this stretch, Taunton have produced a few outstanding performances such as scoring 50 away from home in a win against Chinnor, outscoring Hull by 58 and putting up 36 points away at Cinderford in a narrow 2-point loss. This form has seen the Somerset outfit create a sizeable 14 points worth of separation from 13th placed Leeds Tykes and has also closed the gap between themselves and Esher in 11th to just 3. On the other side of the coin, Park also head into the fixture in good form, coming off back-to-back wins and a total 5 wins across the last 7 matches and will be confident in being able to tally another victory, especially as the team reflects on the reverse fixture earlier this season.
At The Rock in December, the 1st XV produced their most complete performance of the season to run in 8 tries and shut out Taunton in a 52-0 drubbing. 7 different Park players got on the scoresheet with Sam Garvey, Ben Howard, Benji Marfo, Arthur Ellis, Oli Robinson and POTM Craig Holland all crossing the whitewash in addition to the brace scored by Jared Saunders. A repeat of that performance and a 4th big win on the bounce vs this opposition is what the squad will be hoping for as they head into this weekend’s clash.
