The 1st XV are set to take on Richmond at The RAG on Saturday in an eagerly anticipated clash between two rival clubs.
It has been a while since this SW London derby took place as Richmond have spent the last 3 seasons competing in the Championship. However, their reintroduction back into National One got off to a slightly rocky start with a 32-31 bonus-point loss to newly promoted Sedgley Park last week.
Park will be building on last Saturday’s 39-36 win over Plymouth Albion and aiming to continue their impressive record over Richmond. Since their promotion from National League 2 South in 2012, Richmond have faced Park a total 10 times. Across those matches Park picked up 9 wins, losing just once back in 2015/16 – a record Richmond will be eager to change on Saturday. Some of Park’s highlights of this run include being the only team to win home and away against Richmond in their most recent title winning season as well as a 38-point margin of victory at The RAG in February of 2015,
With both teams looking to make big statements early on in the season, it’s set to be another epic battle of the South West London Clubs and we will need the full voice of the Park faithful behind the squad if they are to go out and get the win. Park Members can purchase £12 tickets via the Richmond Rugby Website.
