Match Preview – Plymouth Albion (H)

a look ahead to SATURDAY’s game

Rosslyn park vs Plymouth albion, Saturday 25th MARCH, KO 3PM

The 1st XV are set to take on Plymouth Albion at The Rock on Saturday in a clash between 4th and 5th.

Park currently sit 5 points clear of Plymouth in the league, as well as having a game in hand due to the postponed fixture against Leeds Tykes a fortnight ago. The 1st XV will want to create some separation and cement themselves firmly in 4th with a bonus point win that would put them 10 points clear whilst still retaining their game in hand. Plymouth will be hoping level Park on points should they manage to grab a 5 point win themselves.

The visitors come into this weekend’s fixture on a good run form having won 4 of their last 6 with the most recent result being an impressive 27-24 bonus point victory over the league leaders, Rams. However, the 1st XV can also boast a record of 4 wins from 6 heading into the clash having previously righted the ship with a win over Birmingham Moseley in their last outing earlier this month.

In the previous meeting in late November, the two teams played out a low-scoring affair amidst a torrential downpour and tempestuous winds on the south coast. The match saw more penalties kicked than tries scored with captain Dan Laventure scoring Park’s solitary try on 55-minutes as he broke away from the back of a Park maul and crashed over. England u20 standout Monty Bradbury also added 5 points off the tee in spite of the inclement weather. However, in the end Plymouth were able to hold on to a slender 3-point lead to secure the 13-10 victory.

Only 3 points separated these two teams last time out. Only 5 points currently separate them in the table. Both sides have won 4 out of their last 6. Everything points towards this contest being as close as it gets on Saturday, so don’t miss out.
