Match Preview – Chinnor (H)

The 1st XV welcome an in form Chinnor to The Rock on Saturday in a clash between two sides level on points.

Park will be looking to follow up last week’s huge win over Sedgley Park as they take on a Chinnor side coming off a big win of their own. The Oxfordshire outfit have been in form over recent weeks having handed heavy losses to both Sale (36-0) and most recently Cinderford (48-17) as well as falling just short away at Sedgley Park (27-21). This start has seen Chinnor amass three wins and two losses for a total of 16 points so far this season, a record and points tally that is identical to Park’s. However, it is not only this year’s results that make the winner of this weekend’s match hard to call.

Since Chinnor’s promotion to Nat One in 2018/19, very little has separated these two teams in head-to-head matchups. Up until last season, the sides had played out two draws and came away with two wins apiece (with three of those four wins being decided by just a single score). However, last year’s fixtures produced a different outcome. Despite once again picking up a win each, this time round neither match was a close-run affair. Most recently, Chinnor ran out as comfortable 48-12 winners at home in response to the reverse fixture at The Rock earlier in the season which saw Park put up 42 points in a 28-point rout.

With neither team yet to pick up a win away from home in this fixture, history is on Park’s side this weekend and whether the match is another high-scoring blowout or one of the usual tightly-contested affairs… you won’t want to miss out.

MATCH TICKETS Tickets for the game are on sale online here. Adults £14.50 online, £17 on the gate, Concession £12, U16 Free. We will be showing all three RWC games in the clubhouse throughout the day.
