MATCH REPORT: Kingston Reds vs Karisma

RPNC Reds v Karisma 32-34

Saturday 6 April

Reds took to the court for their final match of the season against Karisma. The team were pumped and ready to take to the court in what they knew would decide either promotion or remaining in Division 4 next year. Reds made a strong start to the game with Milly Marsh (Captain) and Tash Eeles working the shooting circle well with feeds from Erin McGready in her RPNC debut at WA and Elin Murphy at C. Reds’ defence battled against a strong Karisma attack and the first quarter score was Reds 10-13 Karisma.

The second quarter saw circle defenders Abby Mahal (GK) and Simone Kirkpatrick (GD) work in unison, applying pressure and forcing errors. Kate Waskett (WD) found her flow, hunting for the ball in the centre and goal third and successfully making clean interceptions. Reds took the lead and were up 21-19 going into the second half.

Karisma came back hard in the third quarter and with their shooters rarely missing, they kept back into the lead. Tash and Erin continued to apply defensive pressure in the circle third, making tips and turnovers but we couldn’t keep the lead, ending the quarter down 26-29.

Reds continued to bring their all to the final quarter. Rachel Nickels also made her debut at GS to try and mix up the attacking tactics but the defence adapted well to the change. All players worked hard and gave their all throughout the game and we are incredibly proud of the progress made throughout the season for Reds. Although disappointed with the 32-34 final score and most likely 3rd place finish in the league table, we have played great netball this season and hugely improved throughout. Bring on 24/25!
