With the Rugby World Cup now behind us, National One rugby returns to The Rock on Saturday as the 1st XV take on Bishop’s Stortford.
The 1st XV will be eager to get back on the pitch this weekend following their two-week break and having time to reflect on the disappointing results against Taunton and Chinnor.
This weekend’s opposition, Bishop’s Stortford, currently sit in 11th place, having picked up 2 wins (over Blackheath and Birmingham Moseley) and 5 losses across the first 7 matchweeks. Like Park, the Hertfordshire outfit are also coming off the back of 2 consecutive losses. Their most recent outing was a high scoring, 33-45 loss to a Sedgley Park side that has bounced back well from the 65-17 drubbing at the hands of the 1st XV in our last victory.
In fact, despite some disappointing results for both sides, Park and Stortford have regularly demonstrated an innate ability to get across the whitewash. The side from the southeast have only failed to score fewer than 4 tries and pick up a bonus point in 2 of their matches this season whilst Park have touched down at least 3 times in every game (including a 5-try, 6-try and 11-try outing along the way).
Both teams will be looking to make a positive start to the next block of fixtures. Everything points to Saturday’s clash being a must-see event.
