Match Preview – Cinderford (H)

The 1st XV are set to take on Cinderford at The Rock on Saturday.

The 1st XV are coming off the back of  a disappointing loss to Sale last week that brought an end to a three match winning streak. However, there are still many positives to take away from that match despite the apparent one-sided nature of the scoreline. Conceding multiple interception scores against the run of play and having two tries disallowed meant the final result was a poor reflection on how the 1st XV performed up in Manchester. Exciting phase play in midfield, attacking intent and a clever kicking game were all once again present, but the team will need to cut out the errors, both forced and unforced, in order to avoid a repeat of that outcome moving forward.

This weekend sees us welcome Cinderford to The Rock amidst a three-match slide for the Gloucestershire outfit. They currently sit in 11th, three positions clear of the bottom of the table. The situation Cinderford find themselves in is, in large part, due to them failing to pick up a single try-bonus point so far this season and also securing only one losing bonus point across their six losses. Despite these bonus point woes, the team from the Forest of Dean have managed some impressive wins so far. They have been a very streaky side this season opening the campaign with three wins from their first four outings before losing in two blowouts to Chinnor and Blackheath. They followed this up with impressive back-to-back wins over Plymouth and Richmond, but have since lost their last three on the bounce.

An exciting afternoon of rugby awaits!
