April 25th

The Ripleys ended their season on a high winning the London Irish 4 Nations A Festival outright with an impressive 6-3 victory against Teddington (a similar result but larger margin than the Middelesex County Final).

London Irish Winners

The B Festival saw the Ciprianis and a hastily assembled Offiahs team (we got the Festival invite on the Friday morning!) continue the Park trophy sharing habit with the boys shaking hands over the Festival Plate.

April 24th

The Obolenskys finished their season taking part in the St George’s Day Festival. 28 teams from around the country met – the ultimate prize was for the two Cup Finalists to play in front of 61,000 fans at half time. The quarter final against Windsor A saw the boys play their best rugby of the season. It was fitting that the St George’s Day final was between the local English team in red and white against a previously unbeaten team from Wales – the Rhiwbina Squirrels. The boys excelled and ran out 5-2 winners.

April 18th

Hot on the heels of the shared honours at the Etihads the Ciprianis and Offiahs maintained the Park tradition of shaking hands in the final to share the honours. It was a great end to the season for all the boys and the sunshine contributed to the parents’ enjoyment.

The Ciprianis are now C champions of both Middlesex and Surrey.

Ciprianis and Offiahs - Surrey C Champions

A hastily re-assembled Easters team had a great day out as well enjoying some great rugby and for some, their first festival experience.

At Dorking the Ripleys missed out on the chance to add to the Middlesex title, drawing in the quarter-finals with Battersea Ironsides but going out under the last try scored rule. Battersea went on to be the eventual winners.

Sunday April 11th

The Obolenskys won the Surrey B Festival to add to their shared Etihad win. For the record they won all their games, scored more tries than any other team and conceded the least of all the U7s teams there.

A mixed Offiahs and Easters team travelled to the London Irish Development festival and won a game and narrowly lost out in a couple of others. A good day out and invaluable preparation fro Surrey C next week.

Saturday April 2nd

With 4 teams qualified for the semi-finals and 3 for the Grand Finals the only step left was to get two teams into the actual final. The Ripleys and the Obolenskys shook hands and agreed to share the trophy. Some great rugby was played today by the two finalists and the Ciprianis setting all the teams up for the run into the Surrey Championships.

Sunday March 28th

This weekend we welcomed Wimbledon Warriors to Park – a last minute change made it Richmond Park rather than Rosslyn Park but both clubs enjoyed the sunshine and some great competition.

Sunday March 21st

Several squads in action – the Ripleys won the Plate at Richmond A and the Easters and Ackfords had a great day out playing at Reeds Development Festival.

Hats off to the Offiahs who stormed Sutton & Epsom’s C Festival – photos to follow (hopefully).

Sunday March 14th

The Obolenskys had a great day out in the sun and played well enough to retrieve any lost Mothers’ Day brownie points. They won all their pool matches in style and shared the tries amongst the squad putting a big smile on the face of coach Paul Webster.

Ciprianis finish as Runners Up at Effingham and Leatherhead.

The Ciprianis won all their pool matches progressing from the semis to narrrowly lose (5-4) to a good Richmond outfit in the final playing great rugby throughout.

1st Middlesex Title - Ripleys at U7

Sunday 7th March

A tremendous day for Park – the Ripleys were crowned as Middlesex Champions beating Teddington A in the final. The Obolensksys made it to the semi-final of the main event before losing out to Teddington A.

The Ciprianis were impressive winners of the Middlesex Development Festival where the Offiahs picked up the Plate trophy. A hastily assembled Easters team had an astounding performance in the A/B event making it to the semi finals of the Shield event.

Saturday 6th March

A group of boys playing as the Easters had a fun afternoon playing at Barnes RFC.

Saturday 27th February

A team of 7 boys from the Obolenskys played Ealing in a pair of matches as a combined curtain raiser and half time entertainment – honours were shared between Park and Ealing with a win each. The boys formed a guard of honour with their Ealing counterparts to cheer the 1st XV on to a nailbiting win.

Sunday 21st February

We had 3 teams on Sunday to take part in a friendly triangular festival hosted by Richmond with us and Effingham Eagles. Despite the rain and some tired legs from the boys who had played in the Etihads the day before we saw some good rugby and all the boys enjoyed a chance to play with different teammates.

Saturday 20th February – Etihad Semi-Finals

This weekend saw 4 U7 teams playing in the semi-finals of the Etihad Curtain Raiser Cup. It was a terrific day’s rugby with an early start and bright sun. Looking across the pitch at the Stoop and seeing 4 groups of Park shirts amongst some of the best teams in London and the South East was a great sight.

The Ripleys, Obolenskys and Ciprianis all qualified for the Grand Final on Easter Saturday along with Ealing, Farnborough, New Milton, Oxford and Battersea Ironsides. The Offiahs performed well and should be looking forwards to the coming County Championships.

If anyone has any good team pictures please send them to Richard to post on this page.

The Offiahs at the Stoop - Sunday 13th December

13th December – Etihads, Windsor and the Christmas Party

On Sunday the Offiahs, coached by David Reynolds, qualified at the Etihads which means we now have 4 squads in for the semi-finals. The Ciprianis, coached by Shane Gleghorn, won the Windsor C Festival (pictured below in one of the few pictures ever taken at Windsor withoutthe castle as a backdrop!). Back at base the U7s and their parents enjoyed a complete shuffle of teams and some exciting relay races and tag games before meeting Santa, trying their hand at snowboarding and breaking up for Christmas.

28th/19th November

On Saturday the Ripleys, coached by Ben Mercer topped their group at the Etihad qualifiers taking the U7s representation to 3 squads. On Sunday the U7s had wet yet welcoming trip to Old Reigatians where 5 squads got to play some new opponents.

Sunday 22nd November

This weekend 5 full squads travelled to Wimbledon for a triangular tournament at Wimbledon. Teddington were the third team. The squads all played really well winning many of their matches until the heavens opened and the organisers sensibly decided to abandon the fixture.

Sunday November 1st – Cobham Training Event

Whilst Sutton & Epsom was cancelled some brave souls made it to Cobham for a shared session. The Obolenskys and Ciprianis enjoyed playing their Cobham counterparts. Everyone that turned up in the appaulling weather got to play a game – for some of the Easters and Rockys it was their first run out in red and white stripes.

Saturday October 17th – Etihad Curtain Raiser Cup – Qualifying Day 2

We took two teams to this event and both the Obolenskys and Ciprianis qualified. Beautiful sunshine and the perfectly kept pitch at The Stoop made it a day to remember for both boys and parents. For a couple of weeks at least the only teams qualified for the semi-finals were Rosslyn Park.

Obolenskys at the Stoop - October 17th

October 11th – Reeds A, Cobham B and Wimbledon B

This Sunday saw home team dominance as the Ripleys (our As) were runners up at Reeds A festival to Reeds A and the Obolenskys were runners up to Cobham at Cobham B. The Ciprianis and Offiahs were both at Wimbeldon B with the Offiahs runners up to Chobham in the Plate final.

October 4th – Windsor A & B, Chobham B and Guildfordians B

This weekend saw 4 squads playing at 3 different Festivals. Many of the boys were proudly wearing the new Serious Stuff kit.

The Offiahs went to Guildford B Festival and had some tough games, drawing their first game and finishing on a real high with their first external festival win. They didn’t progress further than the pool stage but learnt a lot as a team and had a great time.

The Ciprianis went to Chobham B Festival finishing up as runners up with no games lost and a couple of draws.

The Obolenskys were the winners of Windsor B Festival winning all their games and with every boy scoring at least two tries.

The Ripleys were the runners up at Windsor A Festival having won all their pool games and narrowly lost to Windsor A in the final.

The Ripleys at Windsor - 4th October 2009

Minis registration days will be taking place on Sun 6th & Sun 13th Sept from 9.30am. These are fun days where we get back to rugby, catch up with friends from last season, buy new kit, meet Rocky, enjoy the BBQ and much more.

If you are looking for more information about how to get your youngster(s) involved at Park as a new member, then come along on one of those 2 days and find out.

We are keen to welcome enthusiastic new players of all abilities. For more information about the Under 7’s specifically please contact Nick Gardner at nick@whiteboat.tv

Please note players must be born between September 1st 2002 and August 31st 2003 to play in the u7s in the 2009-10 season (i.e. Year 2 at school).

The U7s follow a schedule for all the players so that our skill sets are transferable across the teams. The coaching team includes a number of coaches that have taken the RFU Tag Rugby Course and one RFU Level 1 qualified coach.

All coaches, parent-helpers and first aiders are CRB certified and the club encourages all parents to get stuck in and do the courses.

Training consists of game-based drills and mini-games. We aim to get the schedule out early in the week to avoid lengthy explanations to the coaches and parent-helpers.

For the first few weeks Sunday training will start at the usual time of 9:30am and finish at 11:45 with the team huddle and the Player(s) of the Week.

We have been given a packed schedule for 2009-10 – a mixture of training at the main Rosslyn Park ground, friendly training sessions at other clubs and away festival tournaments. This will allow us to get all our boys and girls into tournaments this year as all our players will have reached the RFU minimum age of 6.
