Firenze Tour – April 2015
This was a fabulous tour. Joint training with Firenze on the Friday night followed by a great game the next morning. The dads and lads enjoyed an afternoon watching Firenze’s promotion push whilst the mums had disappeared shopping. In the evening we were treated to an excellent meal and wine-tasting up in Greve-in-Chianti. On the Sunday the adventurous (foolhardy) went zip-wiring in a huge forest complex that put most UK equivalents to shame.
Emanuel Lions – 12th April 2015
With most players having finished at Middlesex and the cricket-playing fraternity itching to get their Sundays back an assorted bunch filled out the Rowlands squad to take part in this well run end of season festival. The boys played really well together generating a tour atmosphere. They scored more tries than almost all the other teams put together and conceded none.
Middlesex County Championships – 22nd March 2015
With a different format this season the three Park teams all went to Wasps having known their opposition and the range of final finishing positions available to them.
The Ripleys beat London Welsh in the semi-final setting up another final against Ealing. In the 6 years of Minis these two clubs have met in 5 of the finals. A great match and a fitting draw meant that the Ripleys have been Middlesex County Champions for their entire Minis careers. The Obolenskys beat Saracens but then lost to Finchley to place them 6th overall in the county – a remarkable achievement for a B team. The Rowlands finished an amazing 15th in the county, ahead of many club’s A teams and with only two B teams above them – London Welsh B and Saracens B.
Middlesex League – Round 3 – Sunday 18th January
Results at Ealing : Rosslyn Park A 35 – Saracens A 12; Rosslyn Park A 42 – Rosslyn Park B 0; Rosslyn Park B 0 – Ealing A 42

Middlesex League – Round 2 – Sunday 7th December

At London Welsh – Park B 7 -London Welsh 14; Park B – 42 (actual score 70-0 but 42-0)
In Richmond Park – Park C (actual score 54 – 0) 42 – Wasps 0; Park C 7 – Twickenham 7
Sutton & Epsom A – Sunday 23rd November
The Obolenskys were due to head to Sutton & Epsom A to test themselves against some A team opposition. Everyone else had training in the park but foul weather gave everyone some more zzzzs in bed.
Middlesex U12 League – Sunday 16th November
Sunday 16th November saw the 1st round of the Middlesex U12 League. Despite a mixed set of results all the players really enjoyed the longer game formats and tightly contested matches. For the record
Ripleys 5 – Ealing 7, Ripleys 7 – London Welsh 0
Obolenskys 0 – Teddington 7, Obolenskys 0 – Finchley 7
Rowlands 35 – Old Grammarians 7, Rowlands 0 – Bank of England 14
Full results and the League tables are on the Middlesex U12 League page
The League offers all our players the chance to stretch themselves over an hour’s competitive rugby in one morning (playing 2 matches with 15 minute halves). The Ripleys and Obolenskys are entered into the Middlesex A League (8 teams in total) and the Rowlands have entered the B League (19 teams in total). Park are the only club with 3 teams in the league.
Rosslyn Park C and the London Welsh Midi Festival- Sunday 9th November
There were 7 teams entered into Park C. The Rowlands found their form and won all 4 of their matches against London Welsh, Saracens, Old Alleynians and Battersea Ironsides.
Over at the Old Deer Park the Ripleys and the Obolenskys rediscovered their form and won all their matches against stiff opposition and long time rivals. The Ripleys beat London Welsh, Richmond and Battersea Ironsides (1-0 to Park this time). The Obolenskys beat the same clubs and also Hammersmith & Fulham.
After the torrential rain on Saturday it was a day for great running rugby and gratifying to discover that the whole squad had won all their matches.
Old Brods and Bank of England – Sunday 2nd November
On a freezing squally morning the Ripleys got to take on Old Brodleians, a very strong side from Yorkshire. Both sides fought hard in poor conditions and Park ran out winners 35-7. Just down the road the Rowlands headed to the salubrious surroundings of the Bank of England club to put some finishing touches on the team ahead of upcoming matches at Park C and the Middlesex League. The Obolenskys trained in the park.
Braemar Cup – Sunday 26th October
Cobham put on a great event with lots of county champions vying for the U12s Braemar Cup. Our route saw the Ripleys playing pool games against Amersham & Chiltern, Old Elthamians and Blackheath with a frenetic semi-final against Oxford Harlequins – we hadn’t played them since the U7s Etihad. Going into the final Park had yet to concede but in a fabulous match Cobham edged it 1 try to nil. Worthy winners and fabulous hosts.
Rosslyn Park B – Sunday 19th October
With many regular Obolenskys away for half term and Rosslyn Park B beckoning the coaches put together a fresh team for the day. With the As training in the park everyone else that had made themselves available amassed for Park B. Gelling over the course of the day and with some stellar performances by TobyR and MaxW the team came away with a thoroughly deserved Runners Up trophy. 3 creditable wins and a dogged loss against a very strong Teddington side.
Rosslyn Park A – Sunday 12th October
With lots of top clubs attending this was always going to be a cracking festival. Park A played well throughout but lost 2-1 to our great rivals Battersea Ironsides in a fabulous game of rugby.
Rodez Top 12 and Windsor A – Sunday 5th October
18 players from the Under 12s took part in the Rodez Top 12 tournament. Discovering it was really a pure U13s festival came as a worrying shock to the boys but the chance to take on the South Africans and the youngest troop from the Stade Toulouse Academy was too exciting for them to remain daunted. Excellent play all round and we came away as the Champions de Saubes with a huge trophy and an invitation back for next year.
With the 18 away in France the squad we took to Windsor A was rather down on forwards but the boys had a great time winning 2 games and losing 2.
Pre-season, as ever, will be in our adopted home of St Agnes, Cornwall. We will be training alongside some of the best clubs in the Duchy and renewing friendships with players from Redruth and the Newquay Hornets.
